Bonuses and Benefits
Bonuses and Benefits
Slightly more than half of the respondents expect to receive bonuses this year. The average amounts anticipated vary widely by Cisco certification. At the upper end of the scale are CCIEs, who expect an average bonus of around $17,000, and CCDPs, who look forward to a $12,000 bonus. The lower end—where just about everybody else resides—runs from $4,500 to $5,500. Thirty nine percent of respondents expect no bonus at all.

Since paid vacation tops the list of benefits, we asked respondents how many weeks they were eligible to receive in the coming year. The average was 2.6 weeks. Yet, Americans are a dedicated lot when it comes to their jobs—respondents only expect to use 61 percent of that in the next 12 months. Chart 4 summarizes the results.

Benefits related to employment have stayed fairly static over the last two years. A majority of Cisco professionals enjoy some form of healthcare coverage—though it’s by no means universal. Likewise, a large number have access to education and training reimbursement and technical conference attendance. Chart 5 summarizes the results of top benefits. (Note: Previous surveys have included the 401(k) as part of this benefits list. We left it out of the survey this time, since it’s a U.S.-specific offering.)
