TCPmag.com's 2004 Cisco Professional Salary Survey
The Cisco Certified Internetwork Engineer designation is the highest Cisco certification
you can achieve. It requires passing both a written exam as well as a proctored
lab. Cisco considers this its “master level” certification. Currently, about
10,800 individuals worldwide have earned the title of CCIE, 95 percent of those
specializing in Routing and Switching. The next most popular CCIE is Security,
with five percent, according to our results.

35 percent of respondents reported no change in salary in the last 12 months.
The average CCIE has been certified for 3.6 years. He or she has an average of
9.4 years of experience in networking and/or internetworking.
