Anyone taken the Server+ this year? I have recently taken it and have failed. 580, needing a 615. I feel like I didn't study enough material. I have some experience, but I am looking for good material. I used the Exam Cram 2, but it's not very good at covering some important topics like UPS and RAID troubleshooting. Anyone have any suggestions to good books or questions? (no brain dumps please!)Any good website study information would be good too!

Haven't studied for the Server+ in so long, I don't know what's good for it. You might check the reviews on Amazon for the Sybex and Syngress books, if they exist...
Unfortunately, Sybex doesn't make a updated guide for the 2005 objectives. I wish they did. The Sybex guide plus the additional QUE book by Todd King on Security+ helped me out with that Security+ big time. I scored great! I wish Sybex made a Server+ book! They make great study guides.
Darn...I really want Server+ cert. I know it's not popular but I think the additional skills/knowledge that comes from this cert is very helpful to me, especially where I work. Plus I want to complete my goals completely. Thanks for your response!

Unfortunately, the problem with its popularity is why there's not many study guides out there that cover it. It certainly can't hurt to get the Server+ certification, if you're at that level in your career, ya know?
Yeah, I'm closer to that "level" than before. Slowly migrating from a desktop support level, inching my way to a jr.admin situation.
I'm doing some server builds, but I don't have much experience yet at the troubleshooting area. Since I started cert study in 03, I have learned so much information related directly and indirectly. Ancillary knowledge began to be associated with my certification goals thus far. When I'm done with server+ I want to get more experience and finish my CompTIA goals with Linux+, Project+ and Convergence+.
I studied hard to get my certs from book self-study and exp...Some people learn in other ways, but that's my style.
What's cool is that my employer likes them and recognizes every one ($) !

Sounds like it's definitely time to crack that certification, then! The good thing is that you're only a few points away from being where you need to be.

I took the Server+ test this past May and passed comfortably. I used the Exam Cram book and the official CompTIA study guide. Of course, the official guide is somewhat expensive... but then, I really had no choice given the very few options available.
The two together should suffice... just remember to research concepts you do not understand. For example, Wikipedia has an excellent guide on RAID.

I am about to take this exam too.. I got a free voucher for it, so its next on the chopping block. I should have taken this much earlier on, but now it actually has some topics I am not familiar with - like iSCSI and FC/IP..
Some of the material is very detailed (and old).. Trying to remember the clock rate of SCSI-1 requires some re-memorization.
There is literally no material, and the exam cram glosses over quite a bit. The best advice I can give is to download the actual objectives and use wikipedia and google to fill in the holes.
I was at borders and I was reading the old books, and by the looks of it the older revision must've been a joke of a test. They don't seem to cover anything of any real complexity (at least not in detail) in the old books...
I think to make the server+ more valuable, they've made it signifigantly more detailed and complex. I would advise that potential test takers not underestimate it.
