Hi! I've decided to go for my mcsd and am trying to justify forking over a big chunk of change to do the bootcamp. Has anyone been to one of the bootcamps before? Is it worth the money?

No, never been to a bootcamp. Never seen the need or could justify the costs.
First things first. Do you quite a bit of programming now? If you say no, then forget about it and do it the right way. Either take formal training or do it via self study. You'll remember it more and be a better developer if you do.
If you have quite a bit of experience, your company pays for it, etc etc etc, then maybe I could see it. But not out of my own pocket.
Just think, for a fraction of that bootcamp, you can learn all this on your own.

Nope... never been to a training class either. No need to, when I can learn the material better than an instructor can teach me. Then again, I learn well on my own... thankfully, because if I had gone to classes for each of my exams, I'd be broke and had far less free time.
Bootcamps try to shove a bunch of information into your brain simply so you can pass an exam (or multiple exams). But what will you remember after the exam? If they're like most bootcamps, not much. Learn the right way... until you completely understand each topic... and you'll not only pass the exam, but you'll also be a better tech as well.

THANKS for the advice, guys. You've convinced me to save my $$ and study on my own. I've been programming in .Net for a couple years already and have all the materials I need, so this makes more sense anyway. Maybe now I'll use that money for a nice vacation when I'm done :)

there ya go and if you've been programming that long, I'd bet the studying won't take long to help you get through exam.
Good luck to you and keep us informed of your progress. Oh and welcome to certcities.com (and do tell us about the vacation *after* the exam will ya ).
