I checked the forums for other certs but found that the lastest posts regarding CWNA were back in March 2004 so I just wanted to ask again to see if anyone else had some more info.
I'm considering getting into network design so I figured the CWNA would be a good entry-level cert to give an all-round knowledge of networks in addition to wired networks and its vendor neutral which I think may be good.
Has anyone done the CWNA exam and what's your opinion of it?
you can find all the info you need from the following website: www.cwne.com
Planet 3 wireless offers 3 certs at this time:
- CWNA
- CWSP
- CWAP
The CWNA is their entry level cert, but I would not consider it a entry level cert compare to a Network+, A+, Security+, etc... You need a good base in network fundementals. The knowledge level require to pass this test is about mid level cert. If you do not have your Network+ or CCNA, I recommend you pursue one of those first then due the CWNA.
Also, go to the CWNE forums at the CWNE website, a lot good info about the test.

Thanks. I did pass the Network+ cert in July this year, I plan on beginning my MCSE next year and I'm strongly considering network design as a career so I thought the wireless certs might be a good addition - for purposes of having a good all round knowledge.

dc_40, that was true the day you posted that info back in Sept, however as of Oct 26th, the Wireless# is available as a beta for $85. So that's 5 out of 6, and the CWNT is a certification, 80% on any of the exams plus a course (plus other requirements) or 90% or higher to be exempted from taking the course of whatever exam you plan to teach (for those not aware of the requirements).

First, regardless of whether Wireless# is in beta or not, it is a valid and currently attainable certification. Your certification isn't worth less if you take it now while the exam is in beta than if you take it when the exam is finally released.
Second, you said that Planet3 offers 3 certifications. That is incorrect - they offer 5 certifications and will eventually offer 6. Although there isn't a CWNT exam, there is a CWNT certification. Granted, none of us knew about the Wireless# exam when you posted back in February.
If you wanted to be more precise and speak of the number of currently available exams (which is what I think you were meaning, not certifications), you could say that there are currently three released exams (and now, a fourth in beta).
