Just to be clear, I'm studying from the book with ISBN-10 number of 1-58720-147-x
In Scenario 7-2 am I correct in not understanding the logic used to satisfy the following requirement in the router config: "The election of the central router as the designated router, where appropriate"
In the router config listed, a seemingly arbitrary priority of 64 is used for interface e2. Similarly, I do not understand why the priority of 0 is used for the interfaces in area 0. Why could this router not be the DR for the interfaces in area 0? Why would this router specifically be excluded from being a DR?
Just want to ensure that I can get to the right answer on my own.
Thanks

Per p. 194 (and the OSPF Design Guide), Cisco recommends that you avoid having a router be the DR for more than one segment. Since there are only three multiaccess segments, they configured the router to be the DR for the E2 link and configured the router to never be the DR for the E3 and E4 links.
Note that the scenario answer says that this is "a sample configuration" and not "the only correct configuration". Meaning, you could have configured the router to be a DR for one of the other two links.
Priority 64 was chosen simply to be greater than the default of 1; any value other than 1 or 0 could have been chosen.
